Grand Cross Star, instituted in 1319. Breast Star, 80x65 mm., GOLD and Silver, chiseled and pierced rays, white enameled centre medallion bearing the Order’s Cross in gold and enamels with chiseled details, within florally-decorated outer circlet, also made of gold and enamels, on top, the red enameled Sacred Heart, polished reverse, with slightly convex counter-medallion, bearing the maker’s escutcheon of Gustave Wolfers, Bruxelles; vertical pin.
An uncommonly beautiful, excellently-made rare star, of a rare maker, from the 2nd half of 19th Century, excellent condition. I RR!
