Sash badge, 112 x 54,5 mm., in gilt Silver, white enameled cross, red enameled centre medallion with golden cyrillic inscription, white enameled outer circlet with order’s motto in gold lettering and laurel branches, reverse medallion with the date of creation of the Bulgarian Principality in gold cyrillic lettering on white enameled ground and gilt, grooved outer circlet, typical, trefoil upper loop this, struck with Rothe & Neffe’s “FR” (within a lozenge) and the “greyhound’s head” marks, Bulgarian crown suspension with polychrome-enameled “jewels” and red enameled inner cap, movable suspension ring with Rothe & Neffe’s “FR” (within a lozenge) and the “greyhound’s head” marks, with original, full length, crimson-red sash ribbon. Breast Star, the star, 86 mm., Silver with smooth, convex and concave rays, red enameled, centre medallion, with golden cyrillic inscription, white enameled outer circlet with order’s motto in gold lettering and laurel branches, diamond-cut, gilt intermediate circlets, matted reverse with mirror-polished centre-disc, this, struck with Rothe & Neffe’s “FR” (within a lozenge) mark and the “greyhound’s head” and “A” silver marks, broad pin, struck with “C.F. ROTHE” – “WIEN” and two “A” marks. Together, the letter sent by Tsar Ferdinand to Prince Victor Napoleon (1862-1926) chief of the House of Bonaparte and pretendant to the Imperial Throne of France, dated in Sofia on June 1st /14th 1908, signed by the tsar himself, with the original envelope, closed with the grand seal of Bulgaria. An important set in the best Austrian jewellers’ quality before 1918, of great rarity, very fine condition. I RR!
