Order of the Sun and the Lion

An early Breast Star of the Order, 69 mm., chiselled Silver star with eight major and eight minor rays, convex centre medallion with the couching lion and rising sun in fine enamel miniature, within a diamond-cut silver outer circlet, plain reverse, with convex counter-medallion and flat, tapering pin.
A highly interesting and very rare badge of Iranian manufacture, dating from the foundation of the order, extremely fine condition. I RR!
