Sash Badge, 125 (including suspension) x 80 mm., Silver-gilt with enameled centre as a star with white and blue enameled beams, the central sun in white jade on blue enamel, red enameled outer circlet with waved border, set with fifteen pearls and the five major rays, set with a larger pearl each, the reverse struck with a seal-like inscription with archaic characters, a further one below in modern, Chinese script and the number ‘03’; with original, full-length sash ribbon. Note: The Grand Order of the Brilliant Jade was the highest ranking civil Order, awarded in one class only. Bestowal was limited to The President of the Chinese Republic, highest ranking officials and foreign heads of state. It should not be confused with the Order of the Brilliant Jade, which was ranked as the fifth civil Order and was awarded in nine classes. According to the roll of recipients, the insignia number 3 was awarded to Yen Chia-Kan in 1941, who later became the President of Taiwan (1975-78) after Chiang Kai Shek’s death.
