Complete set of the 2nd Class, 2nd Grade, instituted in 1882. Sash Badge, 67 x 51 mm., Silver, as a stylized flower, the centre as a carved red coral within two raised, golden dragons, facing a further, smaller red coral, the whole within elaborate, sky-blue enameled pattern with red enameled endings, round suspension loop, smooth reverse, long suspension ring, the outer side with blue enameled, ornamental pattern. Breast Star, 93 mm., Silver with smooth, polished rays, round centre with a carved red coral within pale-blue enameled border as a stylized chain, within gilt outer circlet bearing raised, Chinese inscription in archaic script within thin, blue enameled border and around, two dragons facing each other with a small, red coral set on a pale-blue enameled beaming star, the whole enclosed within a sky-blue enameled ornamental pattern, the reverse, fitted with vertical pin, the set, in its original, brown case of issue with golden, archaic Chinese inscription on the lid, blue velvet, fitted inner compartment, the inner lid, lined with yellow silk and red silk cushion.
A very rare set from the late 19th Century, as awarded to prominent personalities only, excellent condition. I RR!
