Grand Cross Badge of the Order with Swords of the type awarded between 1930–’40. Sash Badge, 55,1x31,4 mm., Silver, white bordered, black enameled “Jagiellon’s” Cross, the obverse with vertical, white bordered, red enameled
hexagon bearing the silver “Pogon” (heraldic symbol of Lithuania), with gilt crossed swords, round, upper loop with oval suspension link, fitted with a silver safety hook to secure the badge to the sash, the reverse, enameled similarly to the obverse, but bearing the inscription “Uz Narsuma 1919”.
A probably Unique badge of the military division of this Order, instituted in 1919 as “Kryžius Už Tèvyne,” (Cross for the Fatherland), whose story reflects the historical bounds of Lithuania and Poland and their struggle for freedom and independence after the end of WW1 and its political consequences, the piece is in excellent condition.
