Order for Military Valour

1st Class, 1st Type. Breast Star, 68 mm, gilt Bronze with crossed swords between the arms, red enameled centre medallion with golden, crowned lion, green enameled outer circlet with cyrillic, Bulgarian inscription “To the Valour” in gold lettering, enclosed within a further, diamond­cut silver circlet, smooth reverse with a round nut retaining the obverse centre and vertical, broad pin. A very rare star of this high order rewarding the valour in the fi eld, extremely fi ne condition. This order, instituted on April 17th 1879 by Prince Alexander, was destined to reward outstanding, and exceptional acts of valour during wartime. It was also award to foreigners, serving in armies allied of Bulgaria.
