Early Commander’s Cross for Military, 90x55 mm, in GOLD and red enamel on both sides; dark-blue enameled centre medallion with separately applied portrait of the saint in Gold, within dark-toned, chiseled outer circlet; reverse medallion also in gold with blue enameled centre; hollow-made trophy-of-arms suspension, with grooved ribbon ring; original, full length neck ribbon; in the original, red morocco, fitted case of issue, with gold embossed coat-of arms of Pope Pius IX’s coat-of-arms on the lid.
