Early, embroidered Breast Star of the Order as a cross of Maltese type, 87x84 mm., the arms with a double row of golden sequines held and bodered of gold wire, the inner portion with green lacquered, gilt sheet silver, to the centre a gilt silver Greek cross bearing the engraved motto “ATAVIS & ARMIS” and the monograms “SI” and “MA”, the tips and the inner arms’ ends with tiny loops of gold wire.to fasten the star to the habit, the reverse, backed with thick paper.
A beautiful, important star from the 2nd half of the 18th Century, around the date of the Order’s renovation in 1779, excellent condition.
