Breast Badge, 40x20 mm., gilt oval Silver Star (dark toned due to age) of chiseled beams, the obverse with gold centre medallion embossed with a sword crossed upon a laurel branch with green enameled leaves, on top, the Imperial monogram of Brazil “P.I” under a laurel crown, sky-blue enameled outer circlet bearing the chiseled inscription “RESTAURACAO OF BAHIA 1823” in gold lettering, strong loop to which is hinged a crown of the Brazilian Imperial type in gold with enameled details, round suspension ring, the reverse, bearing an oval, embossed with the portrait of Emperor Pedro I in uniform.
An exceptionally rare award from the Brazilian war of independence from Portugal, interesting for its unique reverse face; excellent quality and condition, beautiful patina. I RR!
