Badge of the Order, 110x73 mm., gilt Silver,five pointed, white enameled, gold bordered star, flanked by straight, polished rays and surrounded by green enameled laurel and palm wreath, centre medallion with bust of General F. Solano Lopez, within blue enameled outer circlet bearing the inscription “MARISCAL FRANICISCO SOLANO LOPEZ – HONOR ET GLORIA”, reverse medallion with the year “1865” on pebbled ground, within blue enameled outer circlet bearing the Order’s motto “PRAEMIVM MERITI”, above a waving scroll forming the upper loop, linked to a horizontal laurel wreath, upper, moulded, tapering suspension ring.
