Cross of the Order with ciphers of Elizabeth II. Neck Badge, 50 mm., GOLD, enameled, approx. 50 grams, both sides enameled, original suspension loop and long neck ribbon, in case of issue by “Collingwood” with inscription “Order of Merit” on the lid. Very rare and attractive.
The Order of Merit was instituted by King Edward VII in 1902 as a reward for distinguished service in the Armed Forces (the Military Division) and in the fields of science, letters and arts. I RR!
