Grand Cross Breast Star of “Prince” size, 2nd Republic (1848-1851), 60.5 mm., with chiselled and pierced silver rays, enameled, GOLD French flags and standards silver centre medallion with applied Napoleon’s head in gold, outer circlet also in Gold with inscription “BONAPARTE IER CONSUL HONNEUR ET PATRIE”, the reverse, with oval maker’s escutcheon of Halley, Paris, vertical narrow pin (silver mark) and two hooks.
An extremely rare and elegant star, almost pristine condition, and fine, old patina. I RR!
