Grand Cordon (Collar) of the Order. Collar chain composed of 10 laurel wreaths, gilt Silver, 89 cm., alternated with 4 beaming “suns” as symbol of Argentina, closed “s” shaped closure-link, forward link with a central, decorative motif, flanked by stylized laurel leaves to which the badge is suspended, this, made of GOLD, 130 x 68 mm., with 16 highly-polished blade-shaped rays and 16 “flamed” beams, white bordered, golden centre medallion with applied bust of Gen. San Martin in gold, pale blue enameled outer circlet with inscription “LIBERTADOR SAN MARTIN” within a border set with brilliants, the reverse medallion with enameled Argentinian coat of arms on polished, golden ground, within white and pale blue enameled border, upper loop with link ring set with brilliants, joining the upper laurel wreath bearing a sabre of “Turkish” type with polished blade, upper suspension, in the form of a condor with open wings with small, ornated ring.
An exceptionally rare set of this beautiful order, scarcely awarded to heads of state, excellent condition. I RR!
