Knight’s Badge of the Order, Breast Badge, 39x26 mm., GOLD, in the typical, early, Brazilian reduced size, white enameled five-armed cross with ball-finials flanked by green enameled olive and laurel wreath, obverse centre medallion with embossed bust of the Emperor facing left within night-blue enameled outer circlet bearing the inscription “PETRUS I . BRAS . IMPERATOR”, sky-blue enameled reverse centre medallion with a cross formed by tiny five-pointed silver stars (dark patina) within night- blue enameled outer circlet bearing the inscription “BENEMERENTIUM PREMIUM”, the upper arm with hinged, tall and bulbous Brazil’s Imperial crown with embossed details, round suspension ring and original ribbon.
