Collar of the order, instituted in 1906, 62x 61 mm., gilt Silver, neck chain in gilt silver composed of 18 laurel wreaths, two of them ± tted with safety slide-catch, front link as the Chilean coat-of-arms with enameled details to which the badge is appended, as a white enameled ve-pointed star with ballfnials, flanked by thick laurel wreath, centre medallion bearing the bust of a lady facing right, within outer circlet with the inscription “REPUBLICA DE CHILE”, reverse centre medallion
with a laurel spray, within border bearing the inscription “AL MERITO”, stirrup-shaped, ring, hinged to the upper tip, on which rests a golden condor with open wings, round loop, and larger, round ring.
A beautifully-made, very rare collar of this Order, in the class awarded to heads of state only, excellent condition and manufacture. I RR!
