Order of the Golden Fleece

Empty Case for a decoration of half size, black morocco, the lit embossed with the golden inscription “TOISON D’OR D’ESPAGNE”, within a thin, decorated fillet around the border, 29x24 cm., deep-blue velvet, fitted inner compartment, with place for the Fleece badge and a short chain, blue velvet, lid’s inner cushion, bordered with “plissée” cream silk. A very rare case, surely belonged to a high-ranking, French dignitary from the 1st half of 19th Century, excellent condition. I RR!
