Commander’s Badge of the Type awarded between 1832 and 1910, 72x51 mm., GOLD, as white enameld 5-pointed star pointing downwards and with ball-finials, flanked by green enameled oak wreath, obverse centre medallion in gold (toned) bearing a green enameled laurel wreath and a sword with blue-grey enameld blade and golden hilt, blue enameled outer circlet bearing the motto “VALOR LEALDADE E MERITO” in gold lettering, reverse centre medallion in gold (toned), bearing the white enameled allegory of Portugal’s Constitution, blue enameld outer circlet bearing the motto “PELO REI E PELA LEI” in gold lettering, upper, golden tower with chiseled, engraved and enameled details, round loop and grooved suspension ring, with original, silk neck ribbon. A beautiful, rare piece dating back to the 3rd quarter of 19th Century, excellent condition. I R!
