Grand Cross Set of the 1st Type. Sash Badge, 115 x 73 mm., in gilt Bronze with white enameled pointed cross and green enameled oak leaves between the arms, obverse centre medallion with white enameled cipher on red enameled ground, within white enameled outer circlet with the cyrillic motto "FOR CIVIL MERIT" in gold lettering, the reverse with centre medallion with gilt, crowned lion on red enamel, within white enameled outer circlet with cyrillic inscription "2. August 1891" in gold lettering, finely engraved reverse of the oak leaves between the arms, "rounded" royal crown with enameled details and inner cap, grooved and pearled suspension ring, original, full-length sash with bow and rosette. Breast Star, 96 mm., with superimposed gilt-silver and silver rays, the centre with white enameled pointed cross and green enameled oak leaves between the arms, obverse centre medallion with white enameled cipher on red enameled ground, within white enameled outer circlet with the cyrillic motto "FOR CIVIL MERIT" in gold lettering, "frosted" and polished reverse with four strong nuts retaining the elements of the obverse, centre disc with maker`s name "JOHANN SCHWERDTNER - WIEN", broad, flat pin, in the original, fitted red case of issue with Bulgarian coat-of-arms and indication of the class, inner cushion with maker`s mark "Joh. Schwerdtner Wien" printed in gold, cursive, ornated lettering, together with Bulgarian awarding document no. 58 dated 18th of April 1896 and French autorisation letter to Mr. Philippe Crozier, Plenipotentiary Minister, Chief of Protocol, date 13th of November 1896. An excellent set of this attractive order, rare to find in this quality and completeness, extremely fine condition. I
