Commander’s Badge, 60x28 mm., in two-colours GOLD of the 1st Type, awarded in the period 1772-1866, with the finest detail and chisel-work, round suspension ring and original, broad neck ribbon. Very rare and almost pristine condition. This order was founded in 1772 by King Gustav III as a reward to civil merits, in 1866, its insignia went under a total reformation, the badges, from a medallion-type turned in a cross, uniformed to the other Swedish orders, the old insignia went mostly retired by the Chancellery and melt, only very few pieces, mostly awarded to foreigners, survived. I RR!
