Large Bust of Napoleon I

Paul Ludwig Kowalczewski - Large bust representation of the French Emperor Napoleon I in military uniform, cocked hat, collared tunic and campaign greatcoat, his face inspired and determined. Hollow one-piece base with the signature on the side, typical representation of Napoleon Emperor with the monogram 'N' and star with rays. Composition in plaster patinated green reinforcing the military character, end of 19th century. Height 66 cm, width 46 cm. We hypothesize that this is, due to the atypical dimensions and the plaster material used unknown elsewhere, a working prototype having served as a model for the casting of the bronze proofs. Good general condition, despite some scuffing on one jowl and very minor patina changes.
